Bernard ” Ponzi ” Madoff, who made off with 50 billion dollars, has this to say, ” Please accept my profound apologies for the terrible inconvenience that I have caused over the past few weeks ”. Terrible inconvenience ? For wiping out people’s life savings and wrecking their lives ? But wait ! That’s not what Bernie the Ponz is apologizing for. This sorry note went in the mail boxes of the other co-op owners in his swanky and very expensive Manhattan apartment building. Bernie feels bad about the scum he has attracted, namely us reporters. It must be awful for the neighbors to have to listen to questions like ” how do you fell about stealing someone’s savings they worked their whole life for ? ”. But not a word of remorse to the tens of thousands of lives he has ruined. No I’m sorry to the charities that are closing and the services they provided to all the people who need them. Instead Bernie is sending million dollar checks and diamond jewelry to his relatives and a nice little apology note to his rich neighbors. The Ponz needs some rehabilitation. 23 hours a day in a 12′ by 8′ jail cell sounds good to me. But a judge has ruled that Bernie’s attempts to smuggle tens of millions of dollars in checks and jewelry out of his apartment to relatives doesn’t mean that Madoff represents an economic danger to his community. Maybe not his community. So reporters remember, behave yourselves outside Bernie’s expensive co-op, don’t disturb the rich neighbors and wipe your feet !

Just to make sure we understand this correctly: if you trash $50 billion you get house arrest, and if you then give away some $1 million worth of bracelets and watches to your friends you should go to jail?
